Riviera Sunrise revels in the golden light of the Mediterranean sun with the warm rays glimmering on orange tree tops, along with a touch of sea spray in the air. According to the brand’s founder Jean-Philippe Clermont, it captures a moment of driving through the French Riviera, of a morning amongst the orange trees. It is a calm, bright and joyous moment portrayed by the scent of oranges; its freshly squeezed fruit juice, its tree, and its leaves.

The fragrance expresses an atmosphere that oscillates between the meditative morning calm and bursts of radiant solar energy.

Riviera Sunrise opens with a sparkling burst of sweet citrus notes; orange and mandarin, with lemon zest and basil giving it a bit of greenness. The initial opening indeed has that invigorating and thirst-quenching citrus juice effect.

This, however, quickly mellows down into a soft blend of orange blossom and fig leaf. Therefore, the fragrance is both floral and green, with woody notes of vetiver and cedarwood grounding it in the background.

The composition manages to fulfill the brief, as the scent of orange trees and their green leaves, in particular, can be sensed all throughout its development. This is not so much about the orange as the fruit; it’s instead about the atmosphere and capturing all the nuances of the imagined landscape.
